I’m excited to share with you my honest review of Bath Fitter! After living in this house almost 10 years, it was time to update the original 1970’s tub/shower in the hall bathroom.
We used Bath Fitter Upstate, but they have locations all over the US and Canada. I am not sponsored by Bath Fitter and you can trust that my review is completely honest. Let’s jump into the pros and cons, and then I’ll share my overall review at the end.

Pros:
- They were able to complete the demo and installation in one day. The Bath Fitter employee arrived before 8 AM and was finished before 2 PM on the same day!
- The Bath Fitter employee who did our demo and installation was very professional. He covered the flooring from our front door all the way to the bathroom, covered all the additional surfaces in the bathroom, and left absolutely no mess behind.
- We had the walls painted before the demo/installation, and there was no damage at all to the rest of the bathroom. I didn’t have to touch up any of the paint!
- The finished product is beautiful! It looks exactly as promised.
- The tub/shower is very easy to clean. There are specific products that must be used on the surfaces, but they are mainstream, name brand cleaning products that I already had on hand. A simple spray of the cleaner and a wipe with a soft cloth easily removes soap scum and dirt.

Cons:
- Cost. We felt like the cost was really high – although possibly worth it, based on the pros I listed above. We paid over $7,300 for the basic shower/tub with curved shower curtain and one shelf unit.
- Sales process: There are no prices on the website. During the consultation where you pick out the design and features you want, they do not list any prices. Once you receive your “personalized quote,” only a grand total price is listed at the bottom. There’s no way to know if one choice you made caused the price to jump thousands of dollars.
- At least for me, the interactions we had with their sales people felt a lot like buying a car – which is something I hate. I already knew what I wanted and didn’t need to be convinced that something was a good choice. Even after we made our final selections, the sales person was still in sales mode as he tried to pitch the company and its benefits over and over. We get it. 🙂
Things to know/Tips:
- Any meeting you have with a sales person will take at least an hour (in our experience). Plan for an hour with both the initial sales visit in your home and the follow up visit where they finalize the details.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for modifications to your quote. I went back and forth with our sales person over email, asking for modified quotes as I tried to figure out how to lower the bottom line. I saved over $2,000 by switching from a glass shower door to a curved curtain rod.
- Don’t be afraid to ask “will that change the price?” when the sales person suggests a different option for one of the features. A couple hundred dollars is a big deal to me!

Overall, I’m very happy that we were able to use Bath Fitter for this renovation. It was the best solution for us as non-DIY’ers. The contractor we used for parts of the initial bathroom reno when we updated the floors (see that project here) was not available for this job and we were hesitant to work with an unknown small business contractor.
I really love the finished edges of the shower walls against the drywall. It looks really nice.
My review in one sentence: We are very happy with the speed in which the project was completed, the professionalism of their employees and the finished product.
When you see that $7,300 price tag, please understand that we are praising the Lord for providing the money to pay that invoice.
